The Challenge

In Imvepi, survival often outruns opportunity. These are the barriers our neighbors face every day.

Here, children face enormous barriers to education.
Vulnerable orphans and child-headed families are at the highest risk of dropping out.
Women and girls lack opportunities for self-sustainability.
And learning spaces are overcrowded and under-resourced.

HoRiSS Background Story

Hope Rising South Sudan (HoRiSS) is a refugee-led, community-based organization empowering refugees and host communities in Imvepi Refugee Settlement, Uganda. Established in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we began as a small Sunday School class and have grown into a registered organization (Reg. No. 636/023). We are committed to teaching Christian values, fostering peace, offering relief and livelihood assistance, and enhancing education opportunities.
